Event Details

We are delighted to welcome Allens Lane Art Center as the twentieth member of the Historic Germantown consortium.  Over its history, ALAC has played a pivotal role in creating a strong sense of place as a vibrant community asset, and today offers a rich array of programs, events, and spaces for residents of all ages.  We look forward to building flourishing partnership that benefits our consortium and our neighbors!

Founded in 1953, Allens Lane Art Center's mission is to build understanding and unity amongst Northwest Philadelphia communities through accessible, enriching, and transformative art education and experiences. We envision a world where we are all interconnected through consistent, deep, and meaningful engagement with the arts and the power of creativity. We unite our community through transformative and joyful experiences in the arts with four core programs – summer camp, classes, performances, and exhibitions. To define the next chapter of our history, the Center is currently undertaking a William Penn Foundation funded community engagement project, Art Forward, which seeks to find out what is most meaningful in arts and culture to our neighbors, and to create a reflective arts-education plan for Mt. Airy and Germantown. “At Allens Lane we believe that strong and resilient communities are built through collaboration. The ethic of collective empowerment is at the core of the service model at Historic Germantown, and we are thrilled to be joining forces with the consortium to continue our work of uplifting and nurturing the arts, the transformative power of creativity, and the communities that we serve in the greater Northwest.” – Vita Litvak, ED ALAC
