Ecologist and author Doug Tallamy says insects are “the little things that run the world.”
While society tells us that bugs and insects are creepy crawly things to smoosh and avoid, these tiny creatures are the reason we have food to eat. Insects keep our world humming, so it’s vital to protect them and help them thrive.
Bring the family along for an evening retreat where we’ll explore outside and meet some of these backyard bugs — like fireflies, butterflies, and other beneficial insects — in a safe way. We’ll start out with a scavenger hunt and then play a bug-themed BINGO game with some buggy swag as prizes. By the end of the evening, you’ll have a newfound love of these tiny creatures and some ideas about how to help them keep doing their very important jobs.
