As America celebrates the Semi quincentennial, Stenton is hosting its own 250th celebration that is even closer to home. Join Stenton and nearby neighbors for our third annual Dinah Day! Dinah Day marks the date in 1776 when Dinah was manumitted from slavery. During her lifetime Dinah won her freedom, reunited her family, and saved Stenton from being burned during the Revolution. This celebratory afternoon will include reflection time at the Dinah Memorial, tours, crafts, community healing, and the premiere of the short film “For the Common Good: Women Who Shaped our Nation - Dinah”.  

This spring festival honors our abolitionist roots and our commitment to literacy as liberation. Celebrating the power and joy of reading, we welcome local authors, host literacy activities, and have community literacy partners table throughout the day. We give away thousands of books and Read by 4th resources.  

Celebration of the Roses: This spring festival is hosted annually in Wyck's historic 19th century rose garden at peak bloom. Featuring garden tours with Wyck's rosarian, lectures & demonstrations, and historic roses for sale, the annual event is the perfect chance to get up close and personal with memorable blooms. The festival also includes a craft marketplace, beer& cider vendors, family activities, historic house tours and much more.

From Sunday, May 24 through Sunday, May 31, join us for Hearth Week — an immersive celebration of cooking and historic flavors.

Each day offers a unique experience centered around the hearth, featuring a blend of colonial-era recipes and traditional German fare. Guests will enjoy a new twist on historic recipes like Philadelphia Pepper Pot, a true Wissahickon classic, Catfish and Waffle's, learn all about homebrewing, breadmaking and more! Guests will also enjoy meals inspired by foraged native ingredients, with offerings ranging from a cozy pizza-night dinner to a hearty brunch.

The Historic Foodways Society of the Delaware Valley (HFSDV) is a non-profit group about to celebrate its 25th Anniversary dedicated to the promotion and understanding of food and its place and contributions to history. Our members are not only food lovers, but also enjoy sharing their passion with others. While mainly concentrating on 17th through the 19th Century cooking, the Foodways Society sponsors programs throughout the year including visits to historic sites, hands-on hearth cooking, food history authors talks and lectures - all of which normally include tasting of period foods. Many of the programs focus on the rich foodways of the greater Philadelphia region.

Join Johnson House historic Site, an underground railroad station, to celebrate Juneteenth. The passage and ratification of the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution commemorates African Americans as free and slavery ended. Features all-day family-oriented activities.

The PPJF is a full day of family entertainment and leisure. Featuring live Jazz and R&B from world-renowned artists. The PPJF attracts a diverse and intergenerational community of thousands from across the Philadelphia region while showcasing riveting spoken word and exhilarating African Dance and Drum routines.

The Philadelphia Honey Festival at Wyck is our sweet finish to the summer season! Hosted in partnership with the Philadelphia Beekeepers Guild, the festival offers a variety of activities that celebrate and educate our pollinators. This always-popular event includes honey tastings, extractions, presentations, local craft vendors, a mead and beer garden, children's activities, and much more!
