EVENT DETAILS
Intro to Botanical Illustration for All Levels:
Come and join a community of budding artists as we embark on a voyage through Wyck's botanical archives and learn a bit about the history of botanical illustrations before creating some illustrations of your very own. Whether you are all new to botanical drawing or just looking for a way to approach illustration, all levels of artistic experience are welcome!
This workshop will be taught by Kristen Ryan, a local artist and horticulturist. She has been working in gardens for the last 14 years, and has been creating art since elementary school.
Come with whatever art supplies you like to create quick botanical illustrations. Wyck will also have some supplies available for use. Kristen recommends at least a sketchbook, pencil, and eraser. Watercolor or colored pencil may be useful, but we recommend leaving the acrylics and oil paints behind - we will have about 1 hour of drawing time.
This free event will take place at Wyck Historic House, Garden, and Farm (6026 Germantown Avenue, Germantown PA 19144) in the Ed Shed.
Parking is available on the street or in Wyck's parking lot (entrance on Walnut Ln- space limited).
