Two Educational Stories: Germantown’s Concord School House and the Old Academy in East Falls
Free, but donations and new memberships welcome!
The 1775 Concord School House on Germantown Avenue, and the Old Academy on Indian Queen Lane, both began as community efforts responding to critical needs. Each found a lively new use when they lost their founding purposes – one as a historic site, the other as the home of a Community Theater, the Old Academy Players.

Concord School House and Upper Burying Ground
Established in 1693, the Upper Burying Ground is one of the two oldest cemeteries in Germantown and one of the oldest in the Philadelphia region. The Concord School House, built in 1775 and expanded in 1818, is an intact nineteenth-century schoolroom which occupies a corner of the Burying Ground.info@concordschoolhouse.org 6309 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19144
