More Info:

Cornelius Tyson, a linen weaver, was born in 1652, perhaps in Kaldenkirchen near the northern Rhine River and close to the modern border between Germany and the Netherlands. He immigrated to Pennsylvania as early as 1684 along with other early settlers of Germantown.  In his will of 1716, prepared shortly before his death and written by Francis Daniel Pastorius, founder of Germantown, Tyson bequeaths his plantation to “his loving wife Margaret” for the remainder of her life.  After her death, the estate was to pass to their six children “in Six Equal Parts, Share and Share Alike.”  Margaret and Pastorius likely arranged for Tyson’s burial and his gravestone in the Upper Burying Ground. Over fourteen thousand descendants of the Tysons have been documented.
