Location:

More Info:

Dinah (c.1732-1805), a once-enslaved woman, who demanded and won her freedom in 1776, saved Stenton from intended burning during the Revolutionary War. She lived, labored, and raised her family at Stenton from the 1750s until her death. Artist Karyn Olivier designed the Dinah Memorial, an artwork entitled RIGHT HERE, the first permanent memorial to a formerly enslaved Black woman in Philadelphia. The form and ideas expressed in the Memorial resulted from a two-year, community-led process during which Stenton’s neighbors decided how they wanted to honor Dinah in the 21st century.

Answer: 1776
