On a walk starting in Rittenhouse Town at the peak of fall color, learn the life histories of some of the region’s biggest trees, including sycamores and pines, while searching for cancer-curing fungi, migrating birds, animal dens, bird nests, and fall’s very last insects. Dive into creek ecology, local geology, and, of course, the human history of this uniquely historic site. And just why do leaves turn color? The answer will surprise you!
Writer-naturalist Mike Weilbacher offers this walk in association with Historic Rittenhouse Town, Historic Germantown, Wyck, Stenton, Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks, and Germantown Friends School.
Nature walk 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM beginning at Historic Rittenhouse Town, with cider and light snacks to follow in the Bake House at Historic Rittenhouse Town from 12:00 - 1:00 PM.
