The Philadelphia Juneteenth Festival Is A Celebration of History, Heritage, Culture & 404 Years of Resilience!

This FREE day-long cultural and educational event celebrates the 158th Anniversary of the passage and ratification of the 13th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution commemorating the end of slavery.

Organized by the Johnson House Historic Site, the Philadelphia Juneteenth Festival is supported by residents, businesses, sponsors, donors, partners, vendors, and elected and appointed officials representing some of the best in the City of Philadelphia!

The goal is to continue to share the history of the Underground Railroad; the heroic efforts of staunch advocates involved in the anti-slavery and abolitionist movement; and the history to celebrate Juneteenth today.

The festival, held along the 6300 block of Germantown Avenue, will include activities for the whole family designed to bring history to life for all to enjoy. Activities will include: African drumming, a Children’s Village, cultural marketplace, historic re-enactments, exhibits, tours, resource information, poetry, food trucks, Unsung Hero Awards, artistic performances, a social justice panel discussion, Juneteenth Mural Unveiling, Philadelphia Juneteenth Festival exhibit opening, and more!
