Eclipse Watch & Birthday Celebration!

Join Historic RittenhouseTown as we observe the total solar eclipse and celebrate the birthday of our
favorite resident astronomer, David Rittenhouse!

David Rittenhouse’s interpretations of the total solar eclipse and observations  (2-4pm)

Native flax seed planting with the PA Flax Project (2pm)

Sound meditation with the Black Lotus Holistic Health
Collective  (3pm)

Birthday cake provided by Frosted Fox (2pm)


David Rittenhouse, was born in RittenhouseTown in 1732.  David was an astronomer, instrument maker, mathematician, founding father, and one of the leading scientists of the 18th century. 

On Monday April 8th a total solar eclipse will be visible in Philadelphia from 2-4pm.  Come out and observe with Historical Interpreter Michael Carver as he shares his observations from the perspective of David Rittenhouse.
